Pakistan Stock Exchange Friday ended the week on a positive note on the back of select buying by investors. BRIndex100 gained 26.94 points or 0.86 percent to close at 3,167.80 points. BRIndex100 touched intraday high of 3,173.67 and intraday low of 3,112.48 points. Volumes stood at 46.215 million shares.

BRIndex30 increased by 270.27 points or 1.67 percent to close at 16,465.83 points with a turnover of 34.484 million shares. The KSE-100 Index surged by 252.43 points or 0.84 percent to close at 30,467.20 points. Trading activity remained very thin as daily volumes on the ready counter decreased to 48.205 million shares as compared to 146.537 million shares traded Thursday.

Foreign investors remained net buyers of shares worth $0.1 million. The market capitalization increased by Rs 49 billion to Rs 6.187 trillion. Out of total 300 active scrips, 156 closed in positive, 119 in negative while the value of 25 stocks remained unchanged.

Maple Leaf was the volume leader with 7.165 million shares. However, it lost Re 0.50 to close at Rs 17.23 followed by WorldCall Telecom that gained Re 0.03 to close at Re 0.89 with 4.576 million shares.

Nestle Pakistan and Colgate Palmolive were the top gainers with Rs 108.75 and Rs 86.54, respectively to close at Rs 5,899.00 and Rs 1,900.00. Bhanero Textile and Bata Pak were the top losers with Rs 38.10 and Rs 20.00, respectively to close at Rs 762.00 and Rs 1,200.00.

BR Automobile Assembler Index inched up by 6.3 points or 0.13 percent to close at 4,805.10 points with total turnover of 439,740 shares.

BR Cement Index lost 18.38 points or 0.68 percent to close at 2,678.43 points with 12.189 million shares.

BR Commercial Banks Index surged by 91.03 points or 1.26 percent to close at 7,301.33 points with 5.938 million shares.

BR Power Generation and Distribution Index increased by 81.71 points or 1.96 percent to close at 4,256.27 points with 1.666 million shares.

BR Oil and Gas Index gained 47.19 points or 1.44 percent to close at 3,324.29 points with 7.730 million shares.

BR Tech. & Comm. Index closed at 636.99 points, up 3.24 points or 0.51 percent with 6.005 million shares.

Maaz Mulla at JS Global Capital said that the KSE-100 Index blew both hot and cold, making an intra-day high of plus 336 points and stooping to a low of minus 203 points, closing at 30,467 level.

E&Ps and banks were the major movers of the day as OGDC (up 2.9 percent), PPL (up 1.7 percent), HBL (up 4.4 percent), ABL (up 2.4 percent) and UBL (up 0.5 percent) closed higher than their previous day close.

Selling pressure was seen in the cement sector as DGKC (down 1.2 percent), MLCF (down 2.8 percent), LUCK (down 0.8 percent) and FCCL (down 0.5 percent) lost value to close in the red region.
